Ed Sullivan - U.S. Economist
For over two decades, Ed Sullivan served as Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Market Intelligence at the Portland Cement Association. During that time, his insights into the construction, cement, and concrete industries shaped corporate strategy, guided financial sector analysis, and informed national media coverage of the economic shifts in these sectors. His expertise also supported industry advocacy on Capitol Hill, including testimony before the U.S. Congress.
Earlier in his career, Ed held senior economic roles at Chase Manhattan Bank, Standard & Poor’s, and Wharton Economics (where he collaborated with Nobel Laureate, Lawrence Klein]. He also contributed economic analysis to key U.S. trade policies, including Japan’s Voluntary Automotive Export Restraints and the formation of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).
Ed’s distinguished public service includes his time as a senior intelligence officer at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he was awarded a commendation by then-Deputy Director of Intelligence Bob Gates (later U.S. Secretary of Defense). He also served as an economist in the office of Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy.
